Debbie was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. After graduating from Clemson University, she returned to Charleston and later began teaching in the lower school at Porter-Gaud School. Besides being a full time teacher and mother, she actively participated in the Architecture and Interior Design community. She was involved in the building of an award-winning Modern home designed in the style of the Charleston Single Home. She was also involved in the complete restoration and remodeling of a Victorian house located in downtown Charleston. Her final project in Charleston was restoring and adding her touches to a nineteenth century home in Historic Charleston. It was during these projects that Debbie was able to develop her keen appreciation of the relationship between individuals and their homes.

After seventeen years of teaching at Porter Gaud School, in search of a new experience, Debbie moved to Saluda, North Carolina in 2005. She brought with her to Western North Carolina the skill of listening, her attention to detail, and her understanding of the importance of personal space. These skills are proving to be invaluable to her as a Saluda, NC Real Estate Broker with Cathy Jackson Realty.

Becoming a licensed Realtor in both North Carolina and South Carolina, Debbie has real estate sales in Columbus, Tryon, Lake Lanier, Cliffs of the Valley, Saluda, Hendersonville, and Lake Adger. She has listed real estate properties in Columbus, Tryon, Mill Spring, Saluda, Zirconia, and Flat Rock. Debbie enjoys working with both buyers and sellers and devotes a good portion of her time to her real estate sales.

When not working, Debbie has found several places to be of interest. She enjoys the Flat Rock Playhouse, the Carl Sandburg Home, Dupont Forest, The Biltmore Estate, Big Bradley Falls, Jones Gap State Park Pearson's Falls, Heartwood Gallery, Wickwire Gallery, New Morning Gallery, Never Blue, Mean Mr. Mustard's Cafe, and Flight. She volunteers at Saluda School and does individual tutoring and enjoys photography.
